AUTISM AWARENESS TRAINING COURSES
Overview
This course is aimed at care workers who are involved with clients who have autism. The course can follow two different pathways. One of the pathways looks at child development and autism and the other covers adult mental health as a result of autism.
Outline of Programme
Child Development and Autism
On completion of the course, delegates will understand:
- To look at the key points of a child with autism
- To look at a child’s development versus a child with autism’s development
- The characteristics of autism
- Autism and the difficulties of social interaction
- Problems with Social Communication
- Sensory Difficulties
Adult Mental Health and Autism
On completion of the course, delegates will understand:
- The vulnerability of mental health problems for someone with autism
- Depression and Anxiety
- Ways of managing the anxiety
- Understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Schizophrenia
- The use of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in Psychological Treatments
Assessment:
The course is delivered in 2 hours and Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn along with interaction of group activities.
