Child Protection Awareness
Overview
This course is designed to workers in residentail or community settings to explore and develop an understanding of child abuse, and how it may manifest itself within the client/carer relationship.
Outline of Programme
On completion of the course, delegates will understand:
- The following different forms of abuse: physical, sexual, emotional, financial and institutional
- Self neglect and neglect by others
- The possible signs/symptoms associated with physical, sexual, emotional, financial and institutional abuse
- Recognise the possible signs/symptoms associated wioth neglect by self or others
- Demonstrate when and how to report abuse/neglect
The syllabus includes:
- Definition of a client
- Various types of abuse
- How to recognise abuse in children
- Whistle blowing
- Groups and agencies involved in the protection of children
- Case studies
- Record keeping
Assessment:
The course is delivered in 3 hours and Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn along with interaction of group activities.
