Overview
This course is aimed at care workers who are involved with clients who suffer from seizures of an epileptic.
Outline of Programme
On completion of the course, delegates will understand:
- The main effects of epilepsy as experienced by the service users groups
- The importance of supporting service users to take medication as directed by their doctor
- That service users may have unpredictable moods and behaviours from epilepsy
The syllabus includes:
- What Epilepsy is and how it is caused.
- How to recognise at least three types of seizure and how they present
- Know how to safely care for someone having a seizure
- Know how to administer emergency rectal diazepam and be assessed as safe to do so
- What documentation is required following a seizure
Assessment:
The course is delivered in 2 hours and Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn along with interaction of group activities.
