Nutrition Training Courses
Overview
This nutrition training course is designed to provide a group of staff, an introduction into enabling clients within health and social care settings to choose and consume food and drink by mouth. The actual support required by clients will be dependent on their individual needs
Outline of the Nutrition Training Programme
On completion of the nutrition awareness course, delegates will understand:
- The effect of food on the body and general health
- How to make changes to supplement illness
- Identify key minerals and nutrients required by the body
- What is malnutrition and the implications of malnutrition
- The importance of adequate hydration
- How to provide an adequate diet, both nutritionally and practically
The syllabus includes:
- The main problems
- Constipation
- Nutrients and common deficiencies
- The effect of fruit and vegetables
- Iron, soluble and insoluble fibre
- Nutrients and wound healing
- Healthy eating rules
- Increasing energy intake
- Liquidizing food
Assessment:
The nutrition course is delivered in 2 hours and Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn along with interaction of group activities.
