This Diabetes Awareness e-learning course is designed for care workers who, as part of their job role, come into contact with individuals suffering from diabetes. This online diabetes course will enhance knowledge and understanding in the field of diabetes. The online Diabetes course provides an introductory overview to diabetes. It focuses on the person with diabetes and how they can make informed choices in relation to treatment and lifestyle. The course will appeal to individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including people with diabetes, health care workers and anyone interested in learning more about the condition.
Outline of Programme
- Explain the types of diabetes and the signs and causes of Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia
- Explain the causes of type 1 diabetes and the factors that can predispose to type 2 diabetes
- Identify the signs and symptoms of diabetes and the range of diabetic treatments available
- Explain the importance of monitoring diabetes and the role of diet controlling its progression
- Explain the range of risk factors and major complications associated with diabetes
- Explain the importance of a lifestyle to promote the health of a diabetic sufferer
