Moving and Handling TRAIN THE TRAINER
Outline
This 3 day course is aimed at those who carry out manual handling of people training
within the workplace. This moving and handling of people training programme is designed
to ensure the learner is working to current moving and handling guidelines, have
a sound knowledge of biomechanics and efficient movement and to ensure safe practices
for their trainees. The learner will be able to explain the theory behind moving
and handling, demonstrate safe practice using a range of techniques and have the
skills to problem solve and convey safe practice to others. The benefits of this

Practical session of using moving and handling equipment. This can include all equipment
within the workplace, including: Mobile hydraulic hoists
Mobile electric hoists
Overhead (Sky) hoists
All types of slings
Standing hoist
Turntables
Banana boards
Handling belt
Slide sheets
Zimmer frame
In addition to this, the practical session will include assisting a person to stand,
rolling clients and lifting feet onto footplates. This will encourage good practice
when dealing with clients.

Assessment:
The moving and handling train the trainer course is delivered in 3 days and Candidates
must demonstrate a willingness to learn along with interaction of group activities.
Learners will complete a teaching section of the course where they will demonstrate
their knowledge and ability to train others. This section of the course is evaluated
for each individual. Teaching methods will be adapted throughout this course to
meet the needs of the individual and the organisation. Full commitment from the
learners is required as homework is given and learners need to complete a written
test with 100% accuracy.
