What is the BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders?
Under the Licensing Act 2003, anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol will have to hold a personal licence. In order to qualify for a personal licence, an applicant must hold a licensing qualification which is Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) accredited, and Government approved.
The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders, is both QCA accredited and Government approved, and has been specifically designed to meet the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2003.
Who is the BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders for?
The qualification is nationally recognised and is designed for anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol in licensed premises including:
- pubs and bars
- hotels and restaurants
- off-licences, supermarkets and convenience stores
- sports and social clubs
- nightclubs and entertainment establishments
- any other venue or site where alcohol is sold.
What does the qualification cover?
BIIAB's Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders covers the syllabus set by Government, to enable candidates to understand the law in relation to:
- the roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities within the framework of the licensing objectives
- the application process for a personal licence
- the role and legal responsibilities of the personal licence holder, and the penalties relating to failure to comply with the law
- the premises licence
- the content and purpose of operating schedules
- the role and duties of the designated premises supervisor
- unauthorised licensable activities
- permitted temporary licensable activities
- rights of entry to licensed premises
- police powers with regard to suspension and closure of licensed premises
- the specific prohibitions for the sale of alcohol
- the strengths of alcoholic drinks, and the effects of alcohol on the human body
- the protection of children from harm
- the responsible retail sale of alcohol
How long is the training course?
The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders has been designed to be completed in one day and includes a 40 minute multiple-choice exam. The pass rate is 28 out of 40.
A comprehensive handbook, presented in an easy-to-follow format, supports the qualification and covers all the information needed for the examination.
Cost:
The cost of this course when run at your premises for a group of up to 10 students is £750 + VAT and an additional fee of £59 per candidate for registration and certification.
