Baby’s life saved by team of dentists

Posted: May 30th, 2012 by Eloise comment-icon Comments disabled

When a young mum’s ten month old baby appeared to have a seizure and stop breathing while they were at home, she panicked and ran out of the house with him and into a nearby dentists’ surgery. As luck would have it, the team on duty had all received first aid training just one week before the incident and were able to get him breathing again while they waited for an ambulance.

Although the practice manager said it all happened very suddenly, the fact that they had received training so soon beforehand meant that they were well-equipped to leap into action and react to the situation in a helpful and confident way. Their actions could well have saved the baby’s life.

It just goes to show how important this type of training can be, enabling people to respond quickly and decisively in the event of an emergency. All employers have a responsibility to make sure that their members of staff have access to first aid facilities and care should an accident happen or should someone fall ill.
It essential to evaluate the company’s risk level and needs in order to ensure that first aiders are ready, should the worst happen.
