The operator of a sewage works in Seafield in north-east Edinburgh has been honoured with a Gold award for health and safety at this year’s The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011.

Veolia Water Outsourcing picked up the RoSPA award in honour of its excellent safety practices, which are likely to have included high standards of health and safety training.

Commenting on Veolia Environmental Services’ achievements and the reasons why it earned a Gold award for the Seafield facility, RoSPA’s awards manager David Rawlins explained:

“RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention deserve recognition.

“Veolia Water Outsourcing has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award.”

Robin Monk, from Veolia, said that the company sees health and safety as a very serious concern and is proud that its hard work and achievements have been recognised.

The RoSPA Safety Awards, first established in 1956, aims to recognise health and safety success in businesses and industries throughout the UK. It offers organisations the chance to prove their commitment to improving health and safety.
