One star rating for Peter Andre’s café

A café bar in Sussex, owned by the pop star Peter Andre, has failed to achieve more than one star following an inspection by food safety inspectors. The rating must be a blow for the café which only opened in November last year. The manager of the café, Andre’s brother, maintains that the café is always spotless, and that the inspectors’ concerns were addressed immediately.

When inspectors visited the café, they found that major improvements were needed and decided to award only one out of a possible five stars. The manager blames the rating on a missing sink and incomplete paperwork, problems which have now been rectified.

It is always difficult to open a new business, and one that serves or prepares food has many factors to get right if they want to pass muster with the food safety inspectors. A low star rating could have devastating effects on a new business’ reputation, so it is important to get things right from the start.

Food safety training can help business owners to do just this. Courses can cover everything from basic food safety awareness for low risk contexts to planning kitchens and equipment. It will also provide knowledge of regulations, ensuring that when the inspectors come you are well placed to get a good rating.
