Warwickshire the top UK county for fire safety

According to new figures, the county of Warwickshire is one of the safest in the UK when it comes to fire safety.

An audit of 42 fire and rescue authorities in the UK was carried out, and it was found that there are fewer accidental house fires taking place in Warwickshire than in any other county. There are just 7 accidental (non-malicious) house fires in Warwickshire per 10,000 homes, whereas the national average is 12 per 10,000 homes.

The figures were also encouraging for commercial premises in Warwickshire. Compared to the national average of 8 fires per 1,000 commercial premises, there were just 3 in 1,000 in Warwickshire.

In addition, the results of the audit showed that the county also has the lowest fire authority attendance to falsely-activated automatic fire alarms at businesses than anywhere else in the UK.

Bosses at Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said that there were many reasons why the county was performing so well in the field of fire safety. As well as increasing fire safety checks for home owners and adopting a new policy for automatic fire alarms, the fire service also said that it has been working with businesses to promote fire safety training.
