This introductory course provides an understanding of the various levels of support required by different service users and teaches delegates how to assist them in choosing their food and drink and consuming it orally. Training will cover food and nutrition; how it impacts upon the body and general health, and the changes which can be made so as to prevent illness. Delegates will also be taught about the key minerals and nutrients required by the body, and the effects of malnutrition.

- What does nutrition mean?
- Fruit and vegetables.
- Nutritional requirements of the elderly.
- The implications of malnutrition.
- Factors that lead to malnutrition.
- Screening tools.
Nutrition Awareness training takes around 2 hours and delegates will be expected to engage in a number of group activities. Our experienced trainers will be on hand to help guide delegates through these sessions and a certificate will be awarded upon completion.
