Replacing the A1/A2 Assessors Award.
The TAQA level 3 training qualification is designed to give individuals the necessary skills to succeed in their career in assessment or internal quality assurance. Delegates will come away from the course understanding how assessment works and will therefore be able to qualify as an assessor. Potential assessors who undertake this course will need to be able to identify at least two candidates of different abilities and attitude, who are in the process of completing a vocational NVQ award. We will then monitor and help the delegate to develop their practical training and assessment skills in relation to these students.
Outline of Programme
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (3 credits).
- Assess occupational competence in the workplace (6 credits).
- Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding (6 credits).
- Learners have the option of assessing competence or non-competence based learning, knowledge and skills. As this course is designed to assist delegates in getting the most out of their learning, they will select units and qualifications according to their vocational requirements.
TAQA Level 3 training is taught through one-to-one tuition and we come to the delegate's workplace to deliver it. They will need to put together a portfolio of evidence of their work, complete written answers to assessment questions, detail how they observed delegates at work and engage in mini-seminars with their assessor. We are flexible in how work is presented so delegates will have the option of completing a paper portfolio or an e-portfolio.
Who is it for?
Potential assessors will need to have a professional qualification relevant to the area in which they are going to assess. We will also interview potential delegates prior to enrolment to make sure that they have appropriate arrangements in place, such as suitable learners to assist.
How long will it take?
Most delegates complete the course within six months, though progress does depend on the NVQ candidates completing their units, as the delegate will be using the NVQ candidates' progress and development as the basis for their portfolio.
How do I progress afterwards?
Assessors who want to take their development further might consider TAQA level 4 units 401 and 402. Please give us a call if this sounds like something you might want to do!
