As of January 2011 this course has been replaced by the QCF Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
This NVQ qualification focuses on enabling quality person centred care, developing and maintaining of an individual’s independence, and improving the delivery of care to service users. For this reason it is highly recommended for home care assistants, community support workers, healthcare assistants and residential or day service assistants.
Outline of Programme
Delegates will need to complete a minimum of 9 mandatory units and 9 optional knowledge and competence units coming to a total of at least 46 credits to earn the NVQ Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2. Each unit contains 2 credits.
The optional knowledge and competence units cover a variety of areas in health and social care and include the option to either attain a general qualification in health and social care, or to move along a specialist pathway in either Dementia or Learning Disabilities.
This NVQ is accredited by OFQUAL and is fully compliant with the Health and Social Care National Occupation Standards approved by Skills for Care & Development. Successful implementation of the training learnt on this diploma will help your organisation to meet the conditions and standards demanded by the Care Quality Commission.

How does assessment take place?
Our assessment process is designedso that our delegates are prepared for the challenges their occupation will involve. Course delegates are appointed a vocationally trained NVQ assessor who helps assemble the portfolio and guide the delegate for the duration of the diploma. Email and telephone support is also provided throughout theNVQ Level 2 Care programme and the resources available will be provided as needed.
What are the entry requirements?
TutorCare is an equal opportunities provider and a potential participant only needs to have been employed in a vocational setting relevant to the occupational standards for Health and Social Care in order for them to be able to complete the qualification successfully.
How long will it take?
The course is completely flexible and we encourage students to learn at their own pace. The awarding body do stipulate that the course is completed within 36 months, but most students will successful finish the programme in around 9!
How would I progress further?
Upon completing this programme, graduates have the option of moving on to NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or can undertake a range of specialist courses, such as MRSA / C.Diff Training or Catheter Awareness Training, also available at Tutorcare.
