As of April 2011 this diploma was replaced by the QCF Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care and Children and Young People Services.
The NVQ Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 4 is designed to fulfil regulatory requirements for those looking to progress or currently working in a managerial role within the care sector. Participants will have the opportunity to gain both managerial and care knowledge in order to meet responsibilities, providing assistance to staff with the assessment and attention to an individual’sneeds.
To achieve a full Level 3 in Health and Social Care qualification, candidates must achieve 8 units: 4 mandatory units and 4 optional units.
The optional knowledge and competence units must be chosen in accordance with the work function and setting of leaner. This will enable delegates to tailor the course to their own specific career development needs. How does assessment take place?
Delegates will be assessed through the observation of their work-based performance, building a portfolio of evidence, demonstrating their ability to work at the acquired level. An individual assessor will be on hand to help prepare this portfolio for assessment, with contact via email and telephone for assistance and support throughout the qualification.
What are the entry requirements?
The NVQ Health and Social Care qualification is available to all ages and genders, with no entry barriers of previous academic attainment or learning. However it is required that delegates are employed within a role relevant to the occupational standards for Health and Social Care in order to complete the qualification.
How long will it take?
The course is completely flexible and we encourage students to learn at their own pace. The awarding body do stipulate that the course is completed within 36 months, but most students will successful finish the programme in around 9!
