Care home holds activity week to celebrate dignity of residents

A care home situated in the Warwickshire village of Bidford-upon-Avon has held a special week of activities to celebrate the dignity of its residents, as well as raising awareness of the issue.

The staff at Waterloo House Care Home, who have no doubt undertaken numerous care training courses on the subject, organised events based around the theme of dignity. The activities were fun and cheerful but also had an important message, as Tracey York, from the company which runs the home, explained:

“We tried to make the week as fun and interesting as possible for our residents, to remind them their dignity is of the highest importance to us and to show them we value them as individuals.”

Events taking place during the week included a wish tree, where resident pinned up their hopes and dreams. At some point, staff at Waterloo House Care Home will try to make some of those hopes and wishes come true.

Other activities included a pamper day for residents, a day where all staff wore purple outfits and at the end of the week, a day marked by the release of several colourful balloons.
