Working at Height Awareness FAQs
What is a ‘working at height awareness’ training course?
A Working at Height training course helps candidates comply with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 by providing employers and employees with the necessary information needed to be able to deal with working at height risks and control measures successfully.
Who should take this course?
This course is a must for anyone who works at height in any place – including a place at or below ground level – where they are required to undertake training to prove that they are competent and safe in their work.
How is the course relevant to people working at or below ground level?
Working at height isn’t just relevant to people working at great heights such as window cleaners or roofing contractors. It also applies to anyone that could accidentally fall due to tasks associated with their role. This includes those involved in shelf stacking, machine maintenance, sign erectors, excavations, and unloading/loading vehicles.
Is this a mandatory course?
Regulation 5 of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 states that employers must ensure all employees engaged in any work at height activity must be competent to do so. Falls from height are one of the most common causes of injury at work. Employers must ensure staff and members of the public are protected when conducting any work at height.
