It is hard enough for many businesses to stay afloat in these straitened times: the difficult economic climate is challenging even the most successful companies. Take the Sheffield Ski Village, for example. Despite a fire that destroyed its adventure playground last year, and fierce competition from new high tech ski indoor ski centres, the timber-framed ski village was still managing to find success.

All that changed on Sunday, when a fire took hold and then all but destroyed the entire park. It took more than three hours and thirty fire fighters to get the fire under control, but the fire station manager has warned that there is very little of the park left.

It remains to be seen whether this will spell the end for Sheffield Ski Village, but it should be a reminder to anyone who runs a business. There are many causes of fire, both accidental and deliberate, and it is essential to protect your business from this terribly destructive threat.
